Disney to launch Netflix video streaming rival in UK.

• Disney Life will feature many of the company's films, music, books and television programmes in a single app.

• The service will mount a challenge to rival services like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and Now TV.

• "Kids' TV is often a lower priority for pay TV providers because the bills are paid by adults who are more interested in movies and sport. This is Disney saying 'We think we can do it better'."

• Disney said its new service would give families instant access to hundreds of its films, songs and books for a monthly fee of £9.99.

Snapchat offers extra replays at 3 for $1.  

• The picturing sharing-app announced Tuesday that U.S. users can now purchase extra "Replays" at three for $0.99. 

• Each Snap is still only eligible for one Replay. That adheres to Snapchat's premise: Allow friends to share one-off photos and short videos that aren't intended to be saved by the recipient. 

• Working out how to generate a steady stream of revenue is a key challenge for digital startups like Snapchat, which receive millions from investors but don't have a traditional money-making model.

You can now watch Netflix on a virtual reality headset

You can now watch Netflix shows like "House of Cards" and "Orange is the New Black" on the Samsung Gear VR- an Oculus virtual headset.

Netflix became the first of several streaming media apps to launch on Oculus' virtual reality app store Thursday. It shows will still be in two dimensions, but there will probably be 3D programming somewhere down the line.

If you don't have a virtual reality headset yet, you should consider waiting for the Samsung Gear VR headset to go on sale later this fall. Samsung says it will start shipping in November, and that the devices will be in store for Black Friday.

The Gear VR is Samsung's first virtual reality device for consumers. In order to use it, you need to have a compatible Samsung smartphone - a Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy  S6 Edge+, S6 and S6 Edge.

Skype Services Problems for Some Users Worldwide

• users of Skype, faced a lengthy blackout on Monday after people worldwide were not able to make calls or sign into the service.
• Skye did not specify how many of its roughly 300 million global users could not use the service
• Skype is still down and users from Romania, Egypt, Norway, India, Canada, New Zealand are reporting about the outage 
• There were also a considerable number of tweets from users offering suggestions to try the Skype Web client or check out Skype alternatives.
• The site's global map showed heavy concentrations of outage reports across Europe and the eastern half of the U.S., with more scattered reports coming in from India, Australia, Japan and other parts of Asia, Africa, and South America.

Web 2.0: Multimedia Blog Pre-Posting

      This year, I am taking Geometry Honors with Ms. Ames. This is the first time having class with her. For the first few days, I learned that Ms. Ames is Jewish. Her email is lames@wood-ridgeschools.org. Ms. Ames likes to remind our homework by sending texts to us.
      To date, I haved learned about lines, planes, rays, segments, and a little bit about Algebra. Ms. Ames checks homework everyday. Ms. Ames won't accept late homework. If you're absent, you need to hand in the homework assignment that you missed, the next day you are in class. Homework will be given everyday except Friday with some exceptions.
     For Ms Ames, Tests - 50%; Quizzes - 25%; Formative (Informal) Assessments/Projects - 20%; Homework - 5%. In class, we have to be respectful to each other all the time. Everyone needs to come to class prepared - binders, pencil, calculator, textbooks, etc.. We aren't allowed to use any electronics in her class, the only thing electronic that we might use in class are the laptops. You will have an automatic zero if we cheat, plagiarize, or copy someone's work.
